Lazy Gift

I had dinner last night with the Vegan and his daughter. Her birthday is today so I wanted to whip up something to give. Her dad told me her top colors are yellow, turquoise and purple. So, yesterday I popped into A Fabric Place / Michael’s and picked out a pretty teal wool jersey for $10 a yard.

Circle scarf.

I made several of these around Christmas as gifts. This time, I just did one seam. The dimensions I copied from the American Apparel website. 70 inches in diameter. 50 inches wide. ย She’s tall. Taller than me, so I should have made it a little longer. But, for a ‘Nice to meet you. Happy Birthday!’ gift, it was fine.

Can you imagine they charge $30 for their ย cotton ones? This fabric was absolutely lush. I’m using the leftover to make myself a traditional scarf.

  1. A perfect gift. It looks great. Funny how sometimes the simplest things to sew look so great and things I spend a week on look like crap… ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. What a beautiful color! And what a terrific gift. By the way, I haven’t had lunch yet and I just saw your birthday dinner pictures and I am about to leap through the screen to grab for the food. So beautiful! Whatever boring sandwich I make will not measure up.

  3. I’ve been lurking around for a week or two, thought I’d finally say hi. Love the scarf! I’m sewing over here in Charles Village.

  4. What an awesome gift idea! I don’t blame you for wanting to use the remnant for yourself, that color looks absolutely great on you!

  5. I know that this is an old post, but I’m looking at some of the stuff I missed. Turquoise is your color! I hope you incorporate that into your sewing this coming year, not many people can pull that color off! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you! You know, I never wear turquoise. Ever. I should think about it! I do have a nice piece of wool in that range that I want to sew this winter.
