The DC Tweed Ride is on November 13th. Like the spring Seersucker Social, vintage style is a bit of a must. I got a LOT of eye candy and ideas from the Ralph Lauren sponsored Tweed Run in New York. I don’t have a lot of time. So, I’ve decided the most important element of my outfit will be a cape. I selected this cape from the October 2008 issue of Burda. As an aside, I SWORE Burda had a zillion capes. I could really only find two that would work. I got this one traced out overnight. Now, the question is underline or not underline….
I’m using a black and white herringbone from the Carol Collection in black and white.
I’m not sure what I’m going to wear under the cape yet. But, am on the lookout for a floppy black hat.

I like using the Control F or ‘Find’ function for searching my blog’s name. There are so many entries it just pulls up the three reference in

And, at the end you can vote for Best Overall Blog. The other categories are bragging rights. But, best overall comes with a Best Buy Gift Card. If I win Best Overall, Imma be all over an iPad. All. Over.
Thank you again guys! I could see the difference in rankings because of your support yesterday!!
Now, I’m off on a Civil War History bike ride!
I made this cape recently, and love it – it will look so nice in tweed!
I thought though that the neck band didn’t really need the extension, it actually makes it look funny when you wear the cape open like a trench coat, so you might want to think about that. I also find the arm openings a bit close together, however this might be a good cycling position!
Look forward to seeing your version.
The RL version of Gents and Tweedy Ladies is hilarious! The real thing sounds like a lot of fun, your cape will be perfect.
Congrats on the ratings 🙂
I happen to have a pattern for spats. When I saw it I thought, now what would anyone ever possibly need with that? But, there you have it. Let me know if you’re interested.
[…] a little over three months ago back in November 2011. I thought it would be fun to wear to the DC Tweed Ride but only managed to finish my cape. Then, I started thinking I would wear it to church when I was […]
