New Page/ T’ings in the Mail / Kwik Sew Bra Pattern Giveaway

I wanted to post some new sewing bits that have come in this week. First, heaven bless Kathi R. from PatternReview.com. She remembered talking to me way back at PR Weekend Los Angeles almost four years ago about my interest in learning to sew bras. Well, she got a great deal at FIDM on laces and offered to send me some. Excellent! I really want to get better and more efficient and making underwear and this will seriously help.

To go along with that, I ordered 1/8 inch elastic from Etsy. It’s sold for ‘baby headbands’. But, I wanted it for snugging up the upper bra cups I sew and for the front lace edges of underwear. I bought some specific colors (black, brown, white) and a variety pack.

Also of that sewing genre, I have more kits from Summerset! I took photos of my laces from the Netherlands, and she dyed kits to match. My goal is to have about ten good bras in the drawer. I’m at two of my own that I’ve sewn and three RTW bras that are a little over a year old.

I’ve aslo added a low tech page at the top of the blog of lingerie sewing resources. Places to shop. I say low tech because there are just links.

Finally, now that I’ve found my bra holy grail in the Rebecca Sewy, I’m giving away these three Kwik Sew Patterns. I’ve only sewn one, back when I was all wrong about my size.

    • It would be great to have these patterns! I am a flight attendant and my goal is to avoid the dreaded security pat-down in Eastern European airports because of my underwire. (!)

  5. I remember when you bought all these, it was about a time when lots of people where talking on their blogs about sewing bras, even Miss Debbie (at Stitches & Seams) 🙂 I never did make any, so put me into the drawing, I have been toying with the idea of trying some.

  9. I’d love to have the bra patterns. Add my name to the hopper or hat! I have only made one bra: it took so long to get a proper fit (about 8 cup muslins) that once I finally finished, I had lost all my lingerie mojo. Your bras are so lovely, I am inspired to try again.

  11. I’ve admired your sewing bravery in making bras. I’d like to try my hand at it too. Pattern 3300 looks like something I’d wear. If I can get the fit right. I’m tired of trying on 10 bras to find one that fits well, even when I’ve been measured by a dept store “fitter” to get the size right. Plus I have in issue with paying $65+ for a good bra.

  29. I would love to be considered for one of these patterns. These are a good style for my daughter. I have 2 of Summerset’s kits for myself (with a pattern for a fuller figure) – I still need to get them done. My old RTW are about to give out, so I have a pressing need! Blessings,

  30. Lucky lady, look at all those gorgeous laces. I just finally found a panty pattern I like so I can understand why you’re ditching the other patterns in favor of your best one. I, on the other hand, would really like to be entered into your drawing. I’ve been thinking about buying KS 2489 for some time so I can try my hand at bra making.

  42. But what if I *am* the winner? That sounds like some sort of universe implosion. Sigrid’s tutorials are making the whole thing look doable, and it would be nice to have some pretty bras instead of the t-shirt bras I always wear. So sign me up!

    I’m sorry to hear about your Valentine’s dress and totally identify with buying a bunch of patterns in indecision. That would be the point where I buy new shoes and call it a day.

  48. I recently got the Bra Maker’s Manual (on CD) and two kits but haven’t gotten up the courage yet to start in! I think I’m afraid to “ruin” my kits with something that doesn’t end up fitting right. I should just dive in, shouldn’t I?
