Meetings and Greetings

I feel bad for the New York area bloggers and sewers. People like me come into town, twist their arms and beg them to go shopping or out for cocktails. This little trip to NY started with a bang as I got to meet Ann of Gorgeous Fabrics for the first time ever (photo ganked from her blog). She is taller than I thought and as chic as I imagined.  I really appreciate her slouching to make me seem taller. Not to put her business out there, but she’s also rocking a great haircut.

On Friday though the gloves came off. First, can I just say, I need to stop buying fabric like I’m never coming back to New York and acting like fabric is going  extinct!  Friday, before leaving town the locals came out for NYC cocktails. You  know it’s NY when they don’t even bother putting a price on the menu next to the specialty drinks. My guess was $15 each. They were $12.50. That’s not much more than Baltimore. And, it didn’t stop me from downing three.

NancyK and Rosie

Poor NancyK. She had to help me schlep fabric all over the garment district. And bless Rosie for helping me carry everything to my bus!

Elizabeth, Peter and Trena

Elizabeth’s coat is quite something. I fondled the lapel a few times. I didn’t get to talk to Peter as much as I would have like, but what a sweet guy! Trena. Grrrr. I’ll wait for her to tell you about that awesome dress. Let’s just say she told me I was going to be jealous and I am.

LindsayT and, well, me without makeup on. Would a little lipstick kill me?

I can’t wait to show you what I had done in NYC thanks to the wisdom of one LindsayT!

  1. So jealous! What a meeting of the minds! It’s hard to say “no” to fabric in the garment district, isn’t it? I totally understand! Looks like a great time, though!

  2. I love meeting sewing friends in the city. But, as Renee said, I’ve spent my entertainment budget for the month! It was fun, I didn’t even mind shlepping her fabric. We should have taken a picture of why I had to schlep it.

  3. Oh look at all those smiling happy faces! Thanks for posting.
I LOVE seeing familiar faces show up on other folks’ blogs!

  4. Wahhhh, sniff, sniff!! I never get to meet any of my bloggy buds!! (stamps foot)

OK, the tantrum is over. I guess the only solution is to visit my SIL and BIL in New Jersey more often. The bus to NYC has a stop at the end of their street!

  5. You had quite a stash going back :o). It was great to meet up with everyone and as Elizabeth said, “short and sweet”. Glad you made it home safely!

  6. What great pictures of beautiful happy women. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.

  7. So many lovely people together. What fun. Will you share what you bought? (totally understand you can’t restrain with all that fabric shops around).

    • My actual fabric purchases are very very boring (I can once say). But, once they all dry from the pre-treating, I’m take some shots!

  8. Looks like so much FUN. You get to re-live the experience when you fondle each piece of fabric purchased. How great is that?!!

  9. Love that you all had a chance to get together! Wish I were closer to join in the fun. YAY for block fusing done by others and good friends to schlep!
