What’s that? Yes, the whir of the machine!!

I don’t want to get too excited, but I’m actually sewing a pair of pants! These are a re-sew of 9-2007-115 (original pants are here). This time I’m making them in a gray wool pinstripe. The fabric is from Egypt and the first half of it was used to make this nasty jacket.

The pants pocket are wicked hard. It’s been two years since I felt I could face them again. But, with Sigrid’s tutorial, it’s much easier.

I’m going to make the buttonholes tonight for the pocket. I’m leaning to the gray/white one (second from the left).

A few other notes to oneself. Don’t take apart your iMac Mighty Mouse. I’m like a child with a scab. It was dirty and I could not just leave well enough alone. I found a tutorial online to take it apart and didn’t stop until I cried ‘uncle’. Because that s.o.b. does NOT go back together. I am now the new owner of a logitech mouse.

Hmmm, I’ve also added half a dozen nail polishes along the left on Flickr. I was gearing up to write up my top 15 for fall, but am too lazy for all the coding πŸ™‚ So, below are photos or the most recent ones.Β  Please don’t judge the sloppy cleanups :). That macro button shows things the world isn’t meant to see!

In somewhat brand order….

  1. whoo hoo.
Call me, you’re so close to being right on – I saw the pics but at this point simply don’t have the momentum to draw on the pics. Call me and we’ll chat. I’m sewing class samples all day today. Apron anyone?
The polish pics remind me too, we never did get around to doing nails…oh well. There has to be a next time. Go see LindsayT and chime in if you’re up for a sewing retreat week/ weekend.

  2. I’m so glad your sewing machine is whirring away again πŸ™‚ Are these the pants Marji helped you fit? Can’t wait.

    Luuurve the new polishes!

  3. Oh, Miss Celie’s going to have some pants soon, yay! In a moment of desperation, I took my remote control apart last night (why doesn’t that damn sleep timer button work??) and was midly alarmed when I finally pried it open but I did manage to get it back together eventually. πŸ™‚

    LOOOOVE the nails!

  4. I’ve done the ‘time to clean the dust out of the iMac mouse….It’s also hooked up with a logitech one. Do like the colours of nail polish and your pocket looks good. Did you get any bargains on Black Friday? On another year, you did an item on your finds. Even though I’m up in Canada without a Black Friday, do enjoy hearing about others’bargain adventures!

  5. Glad to see you sewing. The blackened blue colour, minus the sparkles, is similar to one currently being painted at my house.

  6. Looking forward to seeing your new pants.
I’m drooling over Color Club Revvvolution – but I must.not.buy any more nailpolish!

  7. I can’t wait to see the pants!! I also saw the “nasty jacket” and it’s REALLY nice, but I know how it feels to make something and just be over it by the time you’re done. If my stuff doesn’t get done, from cutting to hemming, in a week, sewing ADD kicks in big-time.

I love the nails theme and can’t wait for the fall top 15! It takes real dedication to have a sewing habit AND a nail polish habit concurrently. Pins scratch polish for so… or at least that’s my lazy excuse for not having colorful nails, and I’m sticking to it πŸ™‚

  8. Personally, I love the nasty jacket (but I do feel your pain). I love it so much, I looked for a pattern reference all over your blog without success. Would you mind sharing?

  9. LOVE the fabric. I looked at the “stupid” jacket and I’m glad you finally decided to salvage it. I honestly didn’t pick up on any of the mistakes until you pointed them out. It is a fantastic jacket and worth a little CPR.
